Hi Everyone,

Thanks very much for the turnout at this Year's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
http://teamtv.org.uk/public_content/TTV_AGM_2009.pdf

I am both grateful and happy that we have agreed to move forward into a new method of operation; I am not ignorant however that this is a slightly radical shift from what people are used to at the moment and that there will no doubt be many questions about what we're proposing to do, and I therefore want to make sure the entire transition is as transparent as it can be whilst still achieving the objectives of the exercise.

As you know, we are moving towards an annual plan structure whereby by preplanning activities, all members should hopefully gain new skills with every meeting; to make films to showcase our talent, for feedback, and most importantly to make sure we are using meeting time efficiently to give our members the necessary expertise and contacts to progress with their own personal projects.

These scheduled activities are by no means suggesting that we do not move forward with individual members' projects, as these are literally the spice of life and creativity - but that they provide a testing ground for teams to learn and excel, make mistakes in an environment where they can learn and apply the lessons to their own works; we're all here to support each other after all.

For the next two weeks, we are closed down; this means that there will be no meetings on:

    Thursday 4th June 2009
    Thursday 11th June 2009

This is to allow us time to properly plan and implement all the changes we want to make to the structure, and efficiently get our annual plan together. Therefore our first meeting back will be:

    Thursday 18th June 2009

In the meantime, the executive committee will be meeting to agree the specifics of moving forward, and I am aiming to post updates in this area on a regular basis outlining what we have been up to.

I am also hoping that anyone who has any questions, issues or concerns or feedback of any kind - positive or negative, will post here for us to answer and discuss.

I look forward to hearing from everyone who fancies posting; and thank you for your patience whilst we sort everything out.

Larry

Let me start by staying well done to the new committee. Especially to Larry for being the new chairman. I can think of anyone better for the job (taking nothing away from Julian of course)

Overalls I’m happy with the new annual plan structure idea and think it a good step forward.

Although the two weeks break is important toward the planning of the new annual plan structure it couldn’t of came at a worst time. As many of you know I’m trying to get my first film off the ground and this two weeks break will eat a large chunk out of pre-production of a very tight deadline for shooting which at best would be end of July. Far as I can see. Long as time for a pre-production slot meeting is made part of the new annual plan structure for when we come back on the 18th. I’m happy to wait the extra few weeks.

Also I’m currently in talk with a co-producer from outside Team TV which in turn will take pressure and time away from Thursday evenings.

Thanks Arron for the kind words :) I could never hope to fill Julian's shoes (his feet are bigger than mine for one!) but I hope we will end up with a fitting direction for the next year.

Whilst we by no means propose a move away from making members' projects, what we are aiming to do is spend less time on Thursday evenings discussing these and more building our skills, inclusive of pre-production skills. This will hopefully allow members to effectively manage their own projects with the support of the group, rather than the group being specifically about members projects on a week-by-week basis. The recommendation therefore is to use any time available to promote your project, and use yourself as a creative force and your producers to arrange the other functions and correspondence necessary for the film to go ahead, with the support structure of TeamTV. This is not far removed from how things have been - the responsibility for organisation has often fallenn to the originator of a project.

Obviously we will know more about how this will work as time goes on.

Best of luck with getting an external producer involved; sometimes the best way to get fresh perspective and impetus into the process.

Sadly i got a email saying today that the person who was keen on co-producing with me is busy till September and due to my tight filming dead line i can afford to leave it till then.

I'm therefore once again looking for a co-producer (which i feel is an inportart part of getting this project of the gound as i fear i can not do it alone)

A far as promoting my project i feel i have taken it far as i can (any ideas are welcome). Although i still got one more person to get back to who was keen on helping me out with publicist, generating some press etc

I feel that Tursday evening are inportant parts ,for myself due to living down in Winchester, for possbile pre-production meeting and i feel holding back on Thursday evenings would be costly to the group for it film making aims and helping people like myself to make films. I'm not suggest we spend every Thursday talking about productions but at least spend some time (if only for a hour or so) on this area.

Of course if i can find a co-producer soon then what you just said sound like a good idea and i'm on board for it. But till then i'm relying on Thursday evenings to keep this project on track and of any hope of making it happen.

Larry, may I also add that I'm looking forward to this Thursday and offering you my support... as long as you wash it before giving it back to me, of course ;)

As I didn't succeed in doing before the AGM, I'll try to get to the Global Cafe a little early for a catch-up on stuff in general before the meeting gets underway in earnest (whoever he is)...

Cheers, Phil

Well everyone,

I think the main detail of the functional review has now been implemented and we are moving forward nicely with the plan outline - so unless there is any major objection I will be closing and archiving this thread soon.

I feel it would be pertinent to leave this until we have got to meeting 6 and have engage in one activity for feedback purposes - so if you have any feedback or comments, questions or queries, please don't hesitate to write them in here, or if you'd rather not share with everyone, drop me an email at larry@teamtv.org.uk or a private message.

Please also get on the new site and look around - it's the most up-to-date one ever!
